Running a start-up or small business has a lot to do with maintaining the right balance between customer needs and employee expectations. The need for speed is essential in today’s business world. However, it often leads organizations to make decisions without fully considering all implications and consequences–a practice known as “fast-tracking.” This can be detrimental when pursuing renaissance-like technologies that require long-term visioning because they disrupt current practices rather than adding greater value over time through innovation alone.

The key is finding out which disruptive technology will be most beneficial for your business or start-up. You can take advantage of its disruption without wasting time on practices that may no longer work efficiently with disruptive technology.

How do these popular SaaS solutions stack up?

The explosion of new Software-as-a-Service applications and cloud platforms in the past few years has made high-tech something that businesses of any size can use. It's also created a slight "be careful what you wish for" scenario in that finding out what solutions would be the best means doing a ton of research to find out what's right for your business. At least for three categorical solutions that bear comparison, we can help you out.

The explosion of new Software-as-a-Service applications and cloud platforms in the past few years has made high-tech something that businesses of any size can use. It’s also created a slight “be careful what you wish for” scenario in that finding out what solutions would be the best means doing a ton of research to find out what’s right for your business. At least for three categorical solutions that bear comparison, we can help you out.

We’ve scoured the market for process automation, business intelligence, and project management tools for good comparisons between solutions. The following are just a few that we think would be perfect for your needs:

Remember ‘Don’t Be A Legacy, Be Digital.’

Zapier vs. Microsoft Power Automate They say that automation is the key to success. These two automated workflow solutions can be great tools for anyone who needs an effortless way to bring together all of their web applications and transfer data or information across apps without code.

Eliminate data entry and other time-consuming manual tasks. In comparison, both are cloud-based solutions and can be quickly onboard into your operations. For small businesses, MS Power Automate is natively built on Microsoft Office 365. It also comes equipped with more robust pricing options than Zapier does—though both offer free services if your business is on a tight budget (but don’t forget how expensive everything will become over time!). So there’s no need to worry about getting lost in the jungle when using this program.

Power Automate is native to Microsoft, so it’s ideal for seamless integration with Office 365 and other MS products and a longer learning curve. Zapier appears to be more intuitive for small businesses without a designated IT shop. Pricing models are also slightly different, with Zapier being the more costly overall but offering freemium services as part of its potential packages.

Jaspersoft vs. OpenText Magellan To transform your operations in a digital economy, you will require productivity applications that not only live in the cloud but operate with intelligence. The two most popular Business Intelligence apps outside the traditional BI tools used by enterprises today are Jaspersoft and OpenText Magellan. For Jaspersoft, some of its exciting features provide encoding to translate reports across any of the world’s languages and is considered a BI tool built for developers. At the same time, Magellan is a BI solution offered by OpenText, which has various information management solutions powered by AI to take your business to the next level. Magellan BI allows you to interactively explore data with the capability to embed it into bespoke applications and processes. It features an intuitive UI that anyone with basic computer skills can utilize yet produces reports in various formats–from intricate prints to web-hosted dashboards! If you are seeking something new and refreshing and strictly subscription based, Grow is a BI tool that may also suit your needs.

Jira vs. Workfront When it comes to project management, these two have big locks on the market. Both are excellent project management and work management tools for managing remote teams, offering massive value to keep a pulse on outcomes and team accomplishments.

Jira and Workfront are both excellent project management tools for managing remote teams.

Jira was designed initially with software developers in mind but is suitable for all agile teams to manage projects, iterative work, and complete project deliveries while tracking issues and bugs along the way. It serves as an excellent tracking system to obtain visibility on statuses, see who’s doing what, and identify changes made. Easy to follow progress along a specific roadmap, while Workfront excels at work management allowing supervisors to executive level managers to obtain more insights across various sectors and its allocated resources. From visibility into its people and resources in addition to projects and work in progress. There is no denying that a tool of this stature is beneficial to your operations in the digital economy. Workfront keeps security at the forefront and ensures data is visible to respective parties. Both tools offer role-based protection that is common for collaborative and project management tools, so you can’t go wrong with either.

We cannot close out this section without noting one of the critical benefits of Jira, which is the seamless integration with Confluence, a Knowledge-Based tool — both being Atlassian products. Jira offers seamless integration with Confluence, allowing you to gather project requirements, build wiki documentation, and other artifacts in a central location and track them throughout your process.

The key is understanding which tool will work best for your company’s culture—and that decision comes down mainly to the type of collaboration environment your company has or tends to promote. An extensive application library to integrate other software applications used internally by teams who need specific tools not widely used across departments.

Lo-Key Solutions is your trusted partner and a great resource to make the unknown known. We can customize items for you using leading-edge tech or keep organizations organized in this digital world!

We can help you leverage SaaS more effectively

Companies use an average of 16 SaaS apps to run their business. Surprised? This isn't a surprise when you compare the benefits of using a SaaS solution for your business needs.

Software as a Service (SaaS) has revolutionized the way we work. Thanks to SaaS, we can log in just about anywhere, on almost any device, and access the same software we use in the office. It has become so commonplace that it’s easy to forget just how revolutionary it is. There are many benefits to using SaaS.

The adoption of SaaS (also called software on demand or service in the cloud) is accelerating. It’s estimated that 73 percent of all businesses will adopt SaaS solutions to some degree by 2021. Companies use an average of 16 SaaS apps to run their business. Surprised? When you compare the benefits of using a SaaS solution for your business needs, you’ll realize its subscription models are more cost-effective than traditional licensing models, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

It wasn’t so long ago that software upgrades were installed manually. Adopting a new software program required a significant outlay of money to purchase the necessary number of licenses for every employee. Then, there were the updates. IT departments had to keep up with the latest versions to update on-premise servers or physically install them on every computer in their companies and reimage the hardware if warranted.

There are now SaaS solutions for just about any business need. By comparison, SaaS offers cost savings and gives companies immediate access to the most recent security updates and features available. It gives businesses the flexibility to try new, innovative solutions and the agility to adopt them at a previously unimaginable speed.

Is your company effectively harnessing the power of SaaS? At Lo-Key Solutions, we help clients ranging from startups to enterprise-level organizations to improve the quality of their operations. Our digital solutions are designed to help companies cut short-term costs, set the foundation for long-term profitability gains, achieve faster customer service, improve internal communication, and increase productivity.

Companies in the know are using Enterprise Open Source

Companies in the know are using Enterprise Open Source

Utilizing Enterprise Open-Source software can be a cost effective way for small businesses looking to digitally transform their business capabilities. The right Open-Source software can save you time and money as your business transforms into the future.

The world of open source software has become a significant new development for businesses who want to use the latest technology without breaking their budget. With the rapid technological advancements, small businesses are struggling to keep pace. Interestingly many are unaware of technologies such as Open-source tools, applications, and platforms that could serve as a cheaper alternative to proprietary software.

Open-Source is, first and foremost, a decentralized software development model that allows companies to open their software to the public for free use to drive open collaboration and development to enhance the product further. In other words, the source code of a given cloud application is available to others beyond just its original creators, which leads to open collaboration and a better end product. Small businesses can leverage open-source software products to reduce the cost of a user license or avoid the fee altogether. Those with an “entrepreneurial mindset” can leverage the opportunity to distribute at no charge.

In mid-February, a company called Red Hat — which makes software available in the open source market — released its State of Enterprise Open Source. It showed that 77 percent of survey respondents, all in the IT industry, expected their businesses to use open source sometime this year.

There are numerous advantages to using open source to solve business problems. Highly dependent on how a given audience elects to leverage it, such as developers, start-ups, small business owners, and managed service providers. According to an article on the news website Tech Republic, it’s especially great for collaborative projects, as it creates more efficiency while still being available and accessible in the cloud. It’s also considerably less expensive than purchasing and using proprietary software. Interestingly, the article states that many proprietary software services are based on an open-source foundation. As a tech start-up, open source software is highly beneficial to bringing tech ideas to life without breaking the bank. Small business owners can leverage it to acquire the software needed to run business operations without the high price tag of proprietary software.

The other advantages cited in the report are higher quality software and better security. As for types of usage, the four main ones mentioned are security systems, cloud, database, and big data and analytics.

Now, the report isn’t all roses. Some respondents, ranging up to 38 percent, were concerned about the lack of internal skills to manage and support, the level of support available, security of open source code, and compatibility with their internal systems.

Still, Tech Republic reports that cloud-native applications are outpacing legacy-based ones at a pace of 61 percent vs. 39 percent. Even so, there’s not necessarily a need to replace the legacy systems you have that are working, popular though open source apps may be.

“Companies are doing different things for different parts of their infrastructure,” said Gordon Haff, a tech evangelist for Red Hat. “If there’s an app that’s running fine today and there’s no particular reason to update it, then there’s no reason to go too much work to change just for the sake of change.” And we agree with that notion.

If budget is a concern:  Businesses seeking more cost-effective measures to leverage new technologies to enhance their business operations should consider some open source software.

Adopting open-source enterprise software can be a great way to help your organization enhance business capabilities and digitally transform simultaneously. We’re here for you if any changes are needed, from implementing new technology or making modifications that will transform how work gets done.

Workplaces are brimming with data that can be used to enhance productivity and bring about improvements and efficiency to bring about better business outcomes. But sometimes, this information doesn’t reach the correct teams who might best benefit from it – we refer to these challenges as “information silos.”

Information silos exist in the workplace for various reasons. Sometimes they are organic due to organizational structure, workplace layout, and segregation of duties. But often, it can be a result of the competitive nature among workers within one company who refuse to share their knowledge across departments/teams and internally between peers.

The term “silo mentality” is used in the corporate world to denote a lack of information sharing across teams, when a department, individual, or group intentionally retains information and is reluctant to share it with others within the same company.

Unfortunately, the typical information silos in an organization are not always due to organic reasons but rather human-invoked. Organic silos develop where the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing because of a lack of communication, transparency, or unclear team expectations – this happens due to poor organizational structure or leadership. Silo mentality, however, is usually due to the competitive nature of certain employees withholding information for control purposes, which leads them to perceived job security. Employees may withhold information for fear of losing control with hopes that they’ll retain control over what gets done and how; this usually happens at higher levels where people fear losing power over decisions, in addition to suppressing or derailing organizational change.

As you can imagine, the silo mentality is hardly conducive to a productive work environment. It only hinders overall operational efficiency and blocks collaboration efforts that could yield your organization’s desired result and outcome.

Imagine a world where all employees have access to the same information as applicable, and they can work more efficiently because their efforts weren’t wasted on trying to guess what’s going on internally. That’s why we encourage you to take steps toward eliminating your company’s reliance upon outdated practices that only serve certain groups at the expense of others’ productivity levels! Implement effective enterprise-level solutions for better management of information silos by forcing cross-departmental collaboration for the betterment of the organization and everyone involved.

Work management and collaboration solutions such as Jira and Confluence can bring about shared data within a set target and help eliminate any barriers between departments or teams who need access at different levels to make better decisions. Take it a step further and provide insights to your entire internal community while adhering to segregation of duties. Enable your business with the right mix for collaboration to establish a more effective information-sharing culture & increase agility; only share pertinent details with relative parties! Various applications can help you foster effective collaboration across teams – Control who sees what, manage tasks, track progress and collaborate on document creation easily.

So many options to explore and work management solutions can be exceptional tools to create innovative visuals that provide a clearer understanding of how teams collaborate and contribute, allowing for more efficient business practices.

Consider the capabilities of a system when choosing which applications to implement. The right mix will ensure that your company can adapt quickly and efficiently while still getting functional results, no matter how technology evolves or what business opportunities arise in this ever-changing world we live in today!

At Lo-Key, we help you get the most out of your technology to enhance efficiency and work more intelligently by allowing technology to do the heavy lifting.

SaaS: Your gateway to seizing opportunities in today’s digital economy

The digital economy has been growing at an astronomical rate, which is a good thing as it's increased demand for SaaS applications. As technology evolves, so does the need to create a more sophisticated and diverse range of software products that will live solely in the cloud.

It is impossible to avoid hearing about SaaS solutions in today’s world. These types of software-as-service offerings have been on the rise. They are now more widely adopted by companies across all industries as they provide easy access to solutions and new business models.

Simply put, SaaS or Software-as-a-Service is both a delivery method and licensing model for application service providers that offer IT services built on a shared infrastructure accessible directly through the cloud. For subscribers, there is no need to incur additional hardware costs or onboard additional staff members and run your business smoothly while saving money.
Users can experience instant ROI by using the application or tool and reaping its benefits immediately. Without the need to download the software onto each user’s machine one at a time like traditional software products would require, just log in – saving both time and money! However, it’s important to note that some SaaS solutions may require planning, capturing detail requirements, and having a complex configuration process before implementation. Like ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management), enterprise-grade systems require a product owner and technical expertise to configure and implement the application for production use.
Nevertheless, you can be up and running in a few months instead of years.

The digital economy has been growing at an astronomical rate, which is a good thing as it’s increased demand for SaaS applications. As technology evolves, so does the need to create a more sophisticated and diverse range of software products that will live solely in the cloud. Products such as Jira, Google Docs, Zoom, Calendly, Clockify, and Dropbox alongside traditional desktop suites powered by Microsoft Office 365!

The world of SaaS applications has been growing at a fantastic pace, and there’s no sign that this trend will be slowing down any time soon. You may want to reconsider using old software or solutions to address tomorrow’s challenges to remain
competitive. SaaS applications have become an integral part of the business world. These apps provide users with everything they need, from file storage to collaboration tools – all in one place and at your convenience! Millions of companies and individuals worldwide use SaaS applications daily to help them work better. SaaS applications have been assisting businesses to thrive, and with their upcoming integration with emerging technologies, we at Lo-Key expect it to accelerate what’s possible in business.

SaaS applications are becoming the most sought-after solutions in today’s digital economy because of the enormous opportunities available to a business it ushers in digital transformation. One of these opportunities is scalability. Because SaaS is so easy to use and elastic, companies can provision new users on-demand, work from anywhere and scale up or down as the business needs change.

As a small business or business owner with limited resources, hiring technical professionals to update the run-of-the-mill program would often require additional investment that won’t come cheap. The right SaaS application can be a great way to run your business. It’s cost-effective, efficient, and up-to-date with all new releases – meaning you don’t need additional staff or resources for maintenance work!

It can be a great way to save money compared to traditional software.

And that’s not all – The short development time of SaaS applications is one reason why they’re so popular among businesses and startups these days. They can be quickly deployed and become available for your entire workforce or end-users in just a few hours to months, depending on your business needs! They allow for scalability and mobility, which means you can release an application quickly without worrying about outdated software or systems that might slow down your business’s workflow–as long as developers continue improving it over time! Through scalability, the benefits continue being realized over time. This means there are no more waiting 12-18+ Months before getting access when an older version has been replaced with improved software. Lo-Key Solution can help you filter through these dynamics and points of consideration.

Lastly, the demand for SaaS applications will continue growing in this economy because there are considerable benefits to be derived from this model by both the end-user and the developers. There might even be other benefits that have yet to be realized via the SaaS model.

Implementing SaaS applications opens up multiple business opportunities, from faster and better customer experiences to improved internal communication, scalability, and more.

Let us help you with your decision. We have helped many clients choose and implement the right SaaS solution for their needs, so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
